Dr. Radu Ionescu received his degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Romania, in 1998, and his Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, in 2003. Currently he is senior researcher at Estonian University of Life Sciences. Previously he was researcher at Uppsala University, Sweden; research director at Rovira i Virgili University, Spain; experienced researcher at Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, Italy; EC Senior Researcher at Technion − Israel Institute of Technology; and project director at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry Petru Poni, Romania. Dr. Ionescu coordinated the H2020 projects TROPSENSE and bTB-Test, and he is currently coordinating the Horizon Europe projects VOLATEVS and ARTVOC. His main research interests are in volatolomic analysis for applications in the biomedical, environmental and food industry fields, and development of nanotechnology-based chemical gas sensor devices.
